Mozart – Concerto No. 3 in G K216 For Violin With Piano Accompaniment Book

The Edition Peters publication of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Concerto No. 3 in G Major, K216, is a valuable resource for violinists seeking to explore one of the seminal works in the violin repertoire. This edition comes with a piano reduction to facilitate practice and performance in a more intimate setting, making it convenient for both students and professionals. Furthermore, it includes cadenzas written by the esteemed violinist and pedagogue Carl Flesch, offering a compelling interpretation of these traditionally improvised passages.

Composed in 1775, Mozart’s Concerto No. 3 in G Major is a work of both lyrical beauty and virtuosic demands, capturing the youthful spirit of the 19-year-old composer. The concerto is known for its thematic richness and inventive orchestration, challenging the violinist not just technically but also musically. The piece consists of three movements: an Allegro, an Adagio, and a Rondo, each presenting unique challenges and interpretive possibilities for the performer.

Carl Flesch’s cadenzas serve as a valuable addition to this edition. Known for his contributions to violin pedagogy and performance, Flesch’s cadenzas provide an interpretive framework that respects the stylistic and harmonic language of Mozart while allowing room for expressive depth. They offer performers a structured yet flexible approach to these crucial moments in the concerto, serving as a useful guide for students and a thoughtful interpretation for seasoned musicians.
